Purity of the Soul

In “Purity of the Soul,” Hanan Refaat Elbokl transforms the theme of spiritual renewal into a painted landscape of a green-domed mosque, slender minarets, palm trees and reflective water. Inspired by the Prophetic analogy of the five daily prayers to bathing in a river five times a day, the artwork draws together architecture, light and nature to evoke serenity and purification. Hand-painted in acrylic on canvas, the work measures 90 × 70 cm. An accompanying video documents the creative process.
